As I was finishing my final school exams, I began exploring summer courses that could strengthen my professional foundation. I wanted to use my four years of college not just for academics, but also to gain real work experience through freelancing.
During my search, Web Development kept appearing as one of the most recommended skills – especially for students looking to freelance from home. That pushed me to look for a good training institute, and that’s when I discovered Besant Technologies, conveniently located near my home.
Even before my board exams were fully over, with two or three papers still left, I visited the institute to understand the course structure. The day after my final exam, driven by excitement and curiosity, I enrolled.
That decision changed my career.
At Besant Technologies, I had the privilege of learning under Mr. Selva Manikandan, whom I believe is one of the co-founders. I was fortunate to have him as my instructor. He introduced me first to Web Designing and later to Web Development using PHP and MySQL. His guidance shaped my technical foundation, and I can confidently say that I am a full‑stack developer today because of his mentorship. I remain genuinely grateful to him and to Besant Technologies.
I completed the course in four months. During my first and second years of college, I took up freelance web design projects for clients across Chennai. By my third year, I had the opportunity to build an ERP system for a hardware vendor – an experience that significantly strengthened my portfolio.
By the time I graduated, I had four years of hands‑on project experience. That portfolio helped me secure a job at IRIS Software Group just two days after completing my degree.
That’s the short version of a long journey – but one that shaped who I am today.
